गिरौ मयूराः गगने पयोदाः लक्षान्तरे अर्कः च जलेषु पद्म।
इन्दुः द्विलक्षं कुमुदस्य बन्धुः यो यस्य मित्रं नहि तस्य दूरम्॥
girau mayūrāḥ gagane payodāḥ lakṣāntare arkaḥ ca jaleṣu padma।
induḥ dvilakṣaṃ kumudasya bandhuḥ yo yasya mitraṃ nahi tasya dūram॥
Peacocks are found on hills. The clouds are in the sky. The Sun is millions of miles away. A lotus blooms in the water. The brother of the flower Kumuda i.e. moon, is two lakhs miles away. In spite of these large distances between them, they are still friends. A friend who is far away does not seem to be away at all.
मोर पर्वत पर होते हैं, मेघ आकाश में होते हैं, सूर्य बहुत लक्ष कोस दूरी पर होता है, कमल पानी में होता है, (चंद्रविकासी) कुमुद का बंधु, चंद्र दो लक्ष कोस दूरी पर होता है। अंतर की दूरी होकर भी इन सबकी मित्रता होती है। जो जिसका मित्र होता है, उसे मित्र अपने दूर नहीं लगता।
