अधमाः धनम् इच्छन्ति धनमानं च मध्यमाः।
उत्तमाः मानम् इच्छन्ति मानो हि महतां धनम्॥
adhamāḥ dhanam icchanti dhanamānaṃ ca madhyamāḥ।
uttamāḥ mānam icchanti māno hi mahatāṃ dhanam॥
Lowly people desire only wealth. Average (moderate) people desire for both wealth & respect. Great people desire only respect. For great people, respect in the society is the real wealth.
अधम लोग (निम्न श्रेणी के लोग) केवल धन की इच्छा करते हैं। मध्यम श्रेणी के लोग धन और मान की इच्छा करते हैं। उत्तम लोग (महान लोग) सिर्फ मान की इच्छा करते हैं। मान ही महापुरुषों का धन है।
